This book is a newer edition to another book I still own. I own both of these books. This book has an overview of everything that you can potentially come across in the veterinary filled. It's i very think book. Because it included a little of everything, sometimes you have to read other source because it does not have all the details. But it's a great review book for any individual. It can also be used as a review for the vtne test. I have had this book for many year now and I originally bought it for a class. I think this is a great book and a great resource for inside and outside of the veterinary hospital.
Great for studying for boards! Note... When your 90lb pup decides its a chew toy, you're likely to find a large pile of shredded paper and shredded cover. On the upside, the preface is long enough that if they don't go far enough into the book it still works great!... just without a front cover, preface... and half the first chapter, but it works... And yes I passed the boards! RVT
I am more than pleased with this eighth edition. It is better organized and has a better flow. I did not need to buy this one. I will be graduating in just a few months but once I have a book of this caliber I like to keep current. I would recommend this new version to any vet tech in training, or to anyone already working in the field.
My granddaughter wanted to be a Veterinarian. I decided to get her the text book so she could make sure this was up her ally. A lot less expensive than having a kid start an expensive college program and then find they don't like it. Well, she's decided she's not so sure now. We saved a lot of money renting this book for a month. We did buy the workbook and get to keep it.
Once I order this book from Amazon ( never received it from 3rd party sender) I’m reading it for my job, and I have the workbook to use with it. It’s of course a great book!
Received this book prompty and in good shape. I would recommend this seller in the future. :)The textbook itself is SUPER thick. I'm talking dictionary-status! But it is very informative and a great book for aspiring vet techs. I bought this book to read prior to starting my vet tech program at Carrington College and it turns out they use this text during the program, only they're behind an edition. So win, win! So yes, I do recommend this text book but be prepared to get an arm work out carrying this bad boy!
The Kindle version makes it difficult because it does not have page numbers. When my professor gives specific pages to read I waste a lot of time flipping through pages guessing where I'm supposed to be reading. My other Kindle texts do have page numbers which simplifies things so nicely, so I don't know why this one doesn't. It is still much nicer to have a digital version than not.
I'm currently in school as a vet tech, and this was the assigned text book. It's very well organized and filled with helpful information and charts. It is a great help for my class!
